What you will be doing.
This quarterly activity is a great opportunity to meet like-minded folks and learn from our Master Gardener! Activities vary by season but may include pruning, mulching, weeding, harvesting, and irrigation maintenance.

SCCG Native Garden
What you will be doing.
No gardening experience required - just a passion for nature and a willingness to learn! Tasks include Fall pruning, planting and nurturing native plants, maintenance of the grounds of invasive weeds and non-native vegetation, properly labeling plants, mulching, and creating habitats for beneficial insects and birds.
What you should bring with you?
Participants should bring sharp hand nippers and disinfectant, a reusable water bottle, and wear a hat, sunscreen and sturdy shoes.

What you will be doing.
No gardening experience required - just a passion for nature and a willingness to learn! Tasks will include summer deadheading and possible seed collection, general ground maintenance of invasive weeds and non-native vegetation, and creating habitats for beneficial insects and birds.

What you will be doing.
If you are creative, outgoing and love connecting with others this volunteer activity is for you! As a volunteer you will work with a fun team of people to set up and break down our festive monthly produce swap. Other activities may include adding your creative flare to showcase our seasonal produce, organize fun activities for children attending, record attendance and welcoming guests.

Working alongside our Master Gardener and Guest Instructors, you will make a difference by helping to create a great experience for our Workshop participants. Activities will include setting up check-in table with SCCG literature, assist Workshop instructors with any set-up, welcome and check-in all participants. BONUS: Once the class begins you are welcome to attend and learn as well! Workshop volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of three workshops per year.

What you will be doing.
If you are looking to share your joy of reading and connecting with children this is the activity for you! As an Alphabet Soup volunteer, you will engage a small group of children (3-6 years old) on the second Saturday of every month by reading aloud a SCCG selected storybook in our Garden Amphitheatre. Other activities include may include guiding children through a craft activity or scavenger hunt around the garden.

What you will be doing.
If you’re looking to roll-up your sleeves and get a little exercise while making a difference this activity is for you! As a Perimeter volunteer you will help upkeep and beautify our garden by weeding, pruning trees, remove tree suckers, and maintaining overall appearance of our welcoming perimeter.

New Volunteer Workshop
What you will be doing.
You will be guided thru a docent led tour of the Garden and given an overview of the many ways you can volunteer (in and out of the garden).
What you should bring with you?
Once your tour ends you may want to get started right away so be prepared! We always recommend that you bring water and wear sunscreen. Also, we do not have public restrooms on site, so plan ahead!
